Monday Morning Featured Speaker Dr. Harry Wendt — Crossways International In 1979, the Rev. Dr. Harry Wendt established Crossways International (CI), an organization which has become a leading trans-denominational, non-profit ministry promoting Bible study worldwide. CI's materials incorporate visually-based study methods developed and field tested by Dr. Wendt during 24 years while serving as a pastor in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. Crossways International "draws upon well-researched biblical, historical, and cultural insights to convey the biblical message with fresh meaning and personal relevance for people today. Our Christ-centered, biblical overview (or "survey") method bridges the Old and New Testaments in a unifying manner while digging deep into the narrative — from Genesis to Revelation." Dr. Wendt will also give workshops in the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday. For more information about Crossways International and its programs, go to the website: http://ww.crossways.org/ Tuesday Morning Featured Speaker Rev. Tim Swenson — ND-NWM Chapter, ALC "The Seductive and Lucrative Myth of Progressive Sanctification--Only the dead rest in peace" Theme verse: 2 Kings 5:20 Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, thought, “My master has let that Aramean Naaman off too lightly by not accepting from him what he offered. As the LORD lives, I will run after him and get something out of him.” Wednesday Morning Featured Speaker Mr. Lou Hesse — "A Clear Eye From the Pigsty: Part 2" Mr. Hesse is a Lutheran layman who farms in the Moses Lake, Washington area. After serving on the ELCA's "Sexuality Study Committee" for four years, and being the only member publicly to dissent from the Committee's findings, Mr. Hesse has continued to work and speak for the Scriptural and Confessional teaching on sexuality and marriage. He will address the issue in the broader context of being a Christian witness to our church and culture which, in Robert Bork's provocative phrase, seems to be "slouching towards Gomorrah." The question, of course, is perennial. How does a Christian stand against the sin while affirming the sinner for whom Christ died? Lou's Top Ten Reasons to be Faithful to the Traditional Christian Witness on the Matters Before Us is available in PDF and Word on the Augsburg website at http://www.augsburgchurches.org/Library/LousTopTen.pdf Bible Study — Come Unto Me Rev. CH (MAJ) John H. G. Rasmussen will lead the three-part Bible study this year on Matthew 11:25-30. Registration You may register for the convention on our website: http://www.augsburgchurches.org/2006Convention/default.htm |

I apologize for the messages you may have received earlier today from our discussion board. Someone has again taken advantage of our open/anonymous posting policy and posted several inappropriate messages. These have been removed from the board and I have also now restricted posting on the board to registered users, which means you'll need to use your username and password whenever you are posting a message. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this causes, but it appears to be the only way we can prevent this from happening again. Jill Beim, ALC Webmaster |
